The existing Search and Discover Centre of the Australian Museum is being upgraded to enable presentation of a refreshed public offer. The Centre remains a multi-purpose space of informal learning. The redevelopment starts with the removal of skeletons from Long Gallery. About 40 skeletons had been placed in a new 12 meters long showcase. We had to bring together these diverse skeletons presenting each at its best advantage while giving a unified local Gadigal and scientific language. This new design space allows visitors to touch specimens, explore through microcospes and light tables, stimulate by making enquiries at the desk
and engaging through observing live species with new enclosure, and wonder by observing the ‘Cabinet of curiosities” type of display.
